Web Site Uptime
A website needs to be always working. Once your site is published it must be
working smoothly with out glitches. The graphics, content, links... they all need to work perfect so that the visitor to your site would
appreciate and stay loyal. The server uptime is highly important. If you do all that you can on your end to make your site working and the server
is not on all the time, your business suffers.
Graphics and beautiful designs will get your site appreciated. Yet when those things can not be seen because of server downtime even the
most professional site will not help your business.
Unfortunately, if your site is hosted by some other company and resides on their servers, downtime may be largely out of your control. If your
host's servers are down, your site are down and there's not a thing that can change that. There are a few things you can do, however, to ensure
that your site stays up as long as possible.
The Right Web Host
There is a lot to learn about being on the Internet. Choosing the web host is one of these things. There are a lot of companies that offer a
service with different packages. You must get estimates and collect data that may show you how much of a downtime
is expected in the server they use.
How to find out about uptime and downtime are:
-
Bandwidth- This will determinant how your site will be operational when there is a lot of traffic in your site. It
will also affect the price you will be charged. If your bandwidth is not big enough and you exceed it, you will be charged more
money.
-
Research- Look at the information that is posted on the net. Companies post their information for the public so that they will be
able to make these kind of decisions. Look at the information that the web hosting companies publish to determine if they suit your
needs. If you don't understand the tech specks, find someone that does.
Check, Do Not Trust
While your site is working make routine checks that will determine uptime and downtime and will
let you know if there needs to be a change.
